ORIOLUS IGT TOSCANA WHITE
Traditionally, our vineyards always contained white
grape varieties. Curiosity has made us want to discover what
kind of wine they would produce on their own, given dignity
as a white wine instead of simply contributing to the complexity
of the red Chianti. Oriolus is the result of that questioning.
Grape varieties: Trebbiano, Malvasia Toscana,
Chardonnay
Location of vineyards: parts of the Casa
Péra and Querciatello vineyards on the Mocenni estate,
near Vagliagli.
South/southwestern exposure.
Altitude 400-450 m.
Soil: for the most part alberese and galestro
Training system: spur cordon
Age of vineyard: 10 – 30 years
Vineyard density: 3.000 – 5.000 vines
per hectare
Vinification and aging: after destemming and crushing the
grapes, the must was transferred into stainless steel vats
where alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature
of 16/ 18°C. The wine was stored in stainless steel vats
for a few months until bottling.
Colour: paper white with golden highlights
Nose: an intense bouquet, with hints of peach
and pear
Taste: fresh and tasty, with good acidity
Alcohol: 12% Vol.
Serving suggestions: a good aperitif wine
and a traditional accompaniment to fish
