Grape varieties: Sangiovese 95% remaining 5%
a mixture of Canaiolo, Malvasia Nera and Saragiolo
Location of vineyards: selected grapes from
the Sorbo and Montollo vineyards on the Marcianella estate (near
Chiusi) and from the Lornano and Poggiolo vineyards on the I
Colli estate ( near Monteriggioni).
Altitude: Chiusi 300-350 m.;
Monteriggioni 350-400 m.
Soil: Monteriggioni: terrain with ample skeleton
– rock of the Montagnola hills;
Chiusi: tufo with striata of clay
Training system: spur cordon
Age of vineyards: 6 – 30 years
Vineyard density: 3.000 – 5.000 vines
per hectare
Vinification and aging: fermentation took place
in stainless steel vats where maceration lasted for 14 –
16 days at a controlled temperature of 28/30°C.
Colour: ruby red
Nose: intensely fruity and elegant bouquet.
Brings to mind cherries and red fruit.
Taste: fresh, elegant and pleasantly rounded.
Alcohol: 13% Vol.
Serving suggestions: an excellent accompaniment
for pasta, both white and red meat, and cheese.
